Live, Authentically.

Do you know who you really are?

You think you know who you are, but do you really?

You certainly know all the roles you play; husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister, [insert role] with the company you work for, etc. These roles are important and can offer much fulfillment, but do you understand why you think, feel or react the way you do? (The answer, by the way, has nothing to do with how others make you think, feel or react).

Do you know what completely fulfills you? Are you at peace with what your current life situation offers you each day?

When you grow self-knowledge, your life journey becomes easier. This doesn't mean it's not OK to feel negative emotions; after all, human beings are designed to experience the full range of human emotions — which is energy in motion — and how we gain wisdom and learn important lessons. But, life isn't supposed to be continuously difficult. We are actually supposed to have fun along this journey as we contribute our natural talents to the collective.

If you are living anything less than the happiest version of your life that you can imagine, or you don't see yourself on that path, chances are, you aren't living in alignment with your Authentic Self.

The journey isn’t so much about becoming someone. It’s about getting rid of everything that isn’t really you.

— Paulo Coelho

Having self-knowledge does not necessarily mean that you have all the things and situations you desire in life. Our desires and goals are constantly changing. But it does mean that you know the general direction to take to manifest those desires.

True happiness comes from within — when you learn how to develop a personal relationship with yourself. When you are in alignment with your authentic, core self, the path to achieving what you want becomes crystal clear.

Holding onto beliefs like, "Life is hard," or "Living the life I want is impossible because [fill in the blank]," will keep you stuck.

This is called scarcity consciousness.

I'll tell you what IS impossible — operating in scarcity consciousness when you are fully aligned with your authentic self.

Scarcity Consciousness

Are you lacking in money, time or love? Do you dread going to work everyday, or often wish that you could have a more fulfilling life experience, but don't know where to begin to create that for yourself? Have you experienced a vague sense of unfulfillment that you just can't shake? Do you look for things outside yourself to fill you up, such as excessive shopping, blanking out in front of the TV, overeating or using alcohol in excess? Or do you keep yourself so busy you have no time for the things that make you happy, or even for quiet reflection? Do you often find yourself complaining about your relationships, health, finances or goals?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are operating within a scarcity mindset.

Scarcity consciousness is plaguing the lives of most people today. Our life experiences are merely a mirror that is showing us the manifestation of our own particular thought patterns over time. You may not even be aware of the thought patterns that don't serve you, because the ego is running the show.

The ego puppets through layers of defense mechanisms, or masks, that each one of us created long ago.

The Mask

At a very young age, we created an intelligent defense mechanism in order to survive, that I like to call the Mask. We have layers of masks that were designed by us for self-protection, which has moved us further away from our authentic selves.

Click here to learn more about defense mechanisms.

Suppressing the authentic self supports the beliefs we create and those beliefs support that suppression, thereby perpetuating the negative emotional charge that reinforces the defense mechanism. It is a vicious cycle. This collective insanity perpetuates with the help of our social systems that we believe are designed to support us.

Collective Systems Failure

Operating unconsciously within the expectations of our social systems (family, school, work, government, etc.) is limiting and does not encourage authentic living, which is the root cause of spiritual sickness. While collective cultural illness and illusive happiness may be the accepted norm in our society, you do not have to accept that life for yourself. It is only when you become consciously aware of this fact that you can move differently in the world.

We are taught that we have to compete, play it safe, get a "good" job (that has nothing to do with our natural abilities), get the spouse, the house, the car, the kids, the money, and then, you will have made it.

What happens when you collect all of this and still feel miserable? You tend to blame external people, situations and events for your unhappiness, like your spouse, your boss, your terrible job, your overbooked schedule — but the real issue is that you are denying your authentic self what it wants because you are living the life you were told would make you happy.

The systems that are currently in place are not designed for you to realize your purpose — we end up slaves to these systems. They are designed to support the structure of their own life cycle, not the lives of the people who keep them operating. Most people are walking through life on auto-pilot, only vaguely aware of their own unfulfillment.

Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
— Carl Jung

Living on Purpose

How do we live on purpose?

We learn about ourselves. We get uncomfortable. We grow.

Becoming familiar with the intricacies of your core self helps to build the inner resiliency necessary to become unbreakable in your authenticity. It is never too late and it doesn't matter what has happened in your life thus far, you can still achieve the life experience you desire. We cannot know how the life circumstances we have endured will help us get where we need to be – we cannot immediately see how these experiences are helping us move closer to accessing our authenticity and living through the lens of the core self.

First, you must give yourself permission to embrace your true authentic self. It is up to you to be WILLING to unlock that door.

The confidence you receive from operating within your highest function of the core self, allows you to access your vulnerabilities and learn to not be afraid of what you find. Practicing vulnerability is a practice in self-acceptance. In order to live an authentic existence on the planet, you must allow yourself to get vulnerable. This is the only way you will get to know yourself and your true desires.

Do you know what it's like to be in the flow? In the flow, everything seems to unfold at precisely the right moment -- serendipitous moments occur spontaneously and interrelations between seemingly unrelated things (not coincidence, but synchronous events) happen often. I call this experience the dance with the divine flow of collective universal energy, where it feels like your life circumstances are supporting you instead of working against you.

This state can be described as a feeling of profound peace, even in the midst of unknowing. When you operate from this higher vibrational level, you will experience synchronous events that unfold as intuition takes over the consciousness, creating the life experiences you desire.

This is achieved through peeling back the layers of external conditioning and then learning how to understand and trust your core self.

Knowledge of the self is the mother of all knowledge. So it is incumbent on me to know myself, to know it completely, to know its minutiae, its characteristics, its subtleties and its very atoms.
— Kahlil Gibran
